Stepping Out in Faith: My New Project & What God Is Teaching Me

I’m finally stepping out in faith and starting a a new business project in Nigeria.

Let me gist you.

Nigeria is full of opportunities. Yes, there are plenty of challenges — but if you look with the eyes of faith, you’ll see that opportunities are literally laid out before you like a wide, open field. Especially when it comes to starting and growing a business. For someone like me, who’s always bubbling with ideas, the moment I landed here my mind started creating! But over the years, something or the other always held me back — and honestly, the biggest one has been power. How will I even begin to figure out this power matter? I just didn’t want to get involved. So, many of my ideas have just been hanging out in my mind, waiting for the right time.

But recently, I got a little push — I sold my car, and instead of buying another expense, I decided it’s time to make my money work for me.

So… I finally did it! I started a new project. I just signed a one-year lease on a property that I’ll be turning into a luxury lodge for all my international delegates coming to Nigeria for ministry programs.

This has been on my mind since I’ve entered Nigeria because honestly, there are no accommodations that fit our standard here. So I honestly think I have a real advantage. I understand exactly what guests like that need and want — comfort, peace, good service.

How’s it going so far?

Let’s just say… it’s not for the faint of heart 😅. This isn’t one of those ready-made rentals. I came in thinking that I was only paying the cost of rent. I’m literally building it up from scratch. That’s both good and bad — good because I get to design everything my way, bad because I now have to think about everything: stable power, clean water, comfort, cleanliness, quietness, access to amenities and the church campground… the whole package!

Why It’s Fun (and What I’m Learning)

At first, I had that “what did I just get myself into?” moment. I even thought, “what if this property stays empty the whole year?” But then I caught myself. I said, “No — I need to start thinking like a wealthy person.” Wealthy people don’t think in fear or failure. They think in process. So I told myself, I can’t fail. I can only learn and move forward.

Now, I’m all in — 100%.

In this Month of Spreading and Possessing, I’m truly strengthening my cords — and yes, that includes my negotiating skills and my fortitude for all this Naija artisan wahala! 😂

Big vision, bold faith, and a lot of work — but I know it’ll all be worth it.
