My Lord, My Lord… How did I end up in this situation? Today, I learned another lesson driving in Nigeria… and it is this… Never go where you were not planning to go. Let me tell you the story,
I am a presenter for a program with Rhapsody of Realities titled, “A Billion Testimonies And More. ” Today, we had some challenges that forced us to cancel our recording for today. So while I was in the city (Ikeja) I thought to myself, “I should use this opportunity to treat myself to Mega Chicken.” I’ve literally been dreaming about Mega Chicken since the beginning of the year.
Suddenly, instead of turning onto the highway, I turned towards the main road. As I turned the first thing I saw was a road safety officer with road spikes. I should’ve known then that I was going in the wrong direction.
Once I hit the main the road, I’m meant to make a u-turn but the traffic at the intersection was so tight, I didn’t have the chest to try and fit myself inside, so I just kept going straight. I decided, I’ll have to try again another day because I really wanted to avoid the traffic. But alas, YOU CANNOT AVOID LAGOS TRAFFIC!! As soon as I made the next right turn… BAM! I’m stuck in the middle of the famous Lagos traffic.

A journey that was supposed to take ten to fifteen minutes from Ikeja to Opic became OVER AN HOUR on the road!! I almost got hit by a truck, I almost hit a pedestrian and one okada driver kicked my car…and I still didn’t get my Mega Chicken.
Driving in Nigeria na stress!
