Since I’ve moved to Nigeria, my skin has become so blotchy and red. It’s obviously reacting to something. I don’t know if it’s the air, or the water or the sun. I thought my skin would eventually get used to the atmosphere and clear up by itself. However, its 3 years later and my skin is still reacting, so now it’s time to start a new skincare routine.
For a long time people would ask me if it’s the water that my face is reacting to and I’ve always said no because I don’t use “the water”… I order my water from a water tank. But I recently realized that there may be no difference between this water and that water? So now I am going to take some definite steps to healing my skin and getting back my fresh, glowing skin.
Starting my new skincare routine
Step 1 starts with changing the water I use to wash my face. No more water from the water tanker. From now on, I’ll be using bottled water to wash my face. Let me at least test this theory for a little while and see if the water is having an effect on my face.
Step 2 is to change my diet. I just believe that life starts from the inside out. Just as the bible says… Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. I’ve increased my ingestion of fresh fruits and vegetables. You’d be shocked how your gut health affects your face.
Step 3 is to look for the most natural remedies. I’m not a fan of pharmaceuticals. I prefer to use the natural medicines that the good Lord gave us. So things like tumeric, honey, avocado and aloe will make great natural masks.

Step 3A is to get pharmaceutical help if you need it. I think I need a boost to help reduce the reactions on my face. I recently bought Blossom Niacinamide Serum. Niacinamide is said to minimize redness and blotchiness, protect against sun damage, and treat hyperpigmentation. Stay tuned for the Product Review on that. (Check out my product review on Flawless Ivy HD Foundation)
Step 4 is the most important step. Wash my face both morning and night. I cannot emphasize how important it is. I have to wash off the sweat and dust of the day at night; and wash off the sweat from the night in the morning. It will surely make a huge difference.
This is just day 3… I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
But what is your skincare routine? How do you maintain glowing skin in this Lagos, Nigeria. Post in the comments below.
