Starting over in a new country can be both terrifying and exhilarating. On one hand, there is the opportunity to learn so much about a new country and its culture and people. On the other hand, you are now back to stage 1. You are the new kid in class and you’ve gotta figure it all out by yourself… again!
For some the latter can be extremely terrifying because you’ve spent so much time, energy and money figuring out your current location. You’ve spent years investing into this place, learning the tricks of the trade in order to climb socio-economic ladders. The idea of going to a new place to start at the bottom….
You Must Make New Friends
It may seem like you can live life by yourself but that is not living… that’s just scrapping by. And the truth is, you need an ally. You need a confidant. You need a helper. You need someone to show you the way and give you tips and tricks to making it in this “new world”
I had the privilege of knowing some people here before I came so I had a best friend almost immediately. She helped me in everything and with everything. She helped me to get around, she helped me to go shopping (of course) she helped me understand the meaning behind many of the things my husband and others said. She really made my transition in this country so much easier!! Have I thanked you yet, Tiana?
While it might be uncomfortable for a while, it will only benefit you to step out of your comfort zone and build a new circle of friends in this new country that you can laugh with, unwind with, gist with, share your dreams and struggles with and most importantly that you can pray with!
