Get Money Series — Part 2: How People Actually Make Money

In Part 1 of the Get Money series, I asked a foundational question: What is money, really? We talked about money as a tool, a medium of exchange, and not a moral compass or identity.

Now in Part 2, we need to get practical.

Let’s talk about how people actually make money — not in theory, not in scams, not in hustle-culture slogans — but in real, repeatable ways.

Here’s the truth many people skip:

Money follows value.

Always.

Money Is a Reward for Value Solved

People don’t get paid for effort. They get paid for problems solved.

The bigger or more urgent the problem, the more money flows toward the solution.

This is why two people can work equally hard and earn very different amounts. One is solving a problem people are actively willing to pay for.

Once I understood this, money stopped feeling mysterious — and started feeling strategic.

The Core Ways People Create Value

Almost every legitimate way of making money falls into one (or more) of these categories:

1. You Solve a Problem

This is the most obvious form of value.

  • A hairstylist solves the problem of grooming and appearance
  • A consultant solves confusion
  • A cleaner solves lack of time and order

Ask yourself:

  • What problem do people already come to me for?
  • What do people complain about that I know how to fix?

Value starts with awareness.

2. You Save People Time

Time is expensive — and people will gladly pay to get it back.

If you can do something:

  • Faster
  • More efficiently
  • With less stress

…you are creating value.

This is why convenience sells.

3. You Increase Results

Some people don’t just save time — they improve outcomes.

  • A coach increases clarity and progress
  • A strategist increases growth
  • A mentor shortens the learning curve

If your work helps people get better results than they could alone, that’s value.

4. You Transfer Skill or Knowledge

Education is value.

Courses, ebooks, workshops, consulting, content — all of it is paid knowledge transfer.

What you know may feel normal to you, but it could be life-changing to someone else.

5. You Create Access or Experience

Some value isn’t about fixing pain — it’s about creating desire.

  • Entertainment
  • Beauty
  • Comfort
  • Inspiration
  • Space

People pay for experiences that make life feel better, easier, or more meaningful.

Why Some People Stay Broke (Even When They’re Gifted)

This part is uncomfortable, but necessary.

Many people have gifts — but:

  • They haven’t named their value
  • They haven’t positioned it
  • They haven’t packaged it

Value that isn’t clear doesn’t convert into money.

Being talented isn’t enough. People need to understand why they should pay you.

Faith, Value, and Stewardship

From a faith perspective, this matters.

God gives gifts, skills, and insight — not just for passion, but for stewardship.

Creating value is not greedy. Hiding value out of fear or false humility is.

Money becomes a byproduct when value is offered with integrity.

Final Thoughts

Money is not random.

It flows toward:

  • Problems solved
  • Skills applied
  • Value communicated

Once you understand this, you stop chasing money — and start building value.
