Loveworld Singer Living: How I refresh after a major ministry program

What a week!!

I can’t really describe in words how glorious this past Healing Streams Service was. You can read the highlights in my previous post. But now, it is time for the loveworld singers to rest and recover.

Our preparation for Healing Streams can be very intense and very strenuous. The vocal stress is one thing but the stress on the back and the bones… Oh dear! If you want to get an idea of what it’s like behind the scenes, check out this video from last year. After such a program, the body demands for rest. So how do I rest and recover after such ministry programs.

Vocal rest is easy. I just have to reduce how much I talk. Although, I must admit I love when my voice is hoarse and raspy. It sounds so sweet to me. I’m tempted to sing songs that require this level of grit. Like a song sang by Sayra for example. And then add the growl like Viwe. I feel like a whole new world is open to me. However, for the sake of my vocal health, I avoid talking and singing at loud volumes. If I must do either, it’s a hum or a whisper.

Many don’t realise that the vocal chords are a muscle and inasmuch as they need rest, they also need strength training. So after one day of rest, we go into rebuilding the muscle. Two days of vocal exercises another day of rest and then back to the regular scheduled program. I really don’t want to damage my vocal chords and have to be the one on the healing line.

Recovering the body is it’s own regimen. It’s just sleep and fast. Yes, fast because our schedule is so hectic I find that I don’t eat well. It’s mostly junk food and late night meals that I end up eating, so when I get home, I focus on eating fruits and vegetables or nothing at all. Don’t worry, my body is so tired I don’t even have the strength to get out of bed much less try and cook.

Finally, I ensure to refresh my creative mind. I give a lot of my attention to my personal projects (like this blog) and my other creative outlets like writing and designing. I will definitely be carrying you along so make sure you subscribe for the latest updates.
