In a world that constantly pushes unrealistic beauty standards, embracing body positivity can feel like a challenge — especially as a Christian woman striving to honor God with both body and soul. But the truth is, your body was intentionally and wonderfully made by the Creator. I want us to explore how we, as Christian women can embrace body positivity through faith, scripture, and self-love. If you’ve ever struggled with body image or questioned your worth, you’re not alone but you are in the right place. Let’s talk about how to love ourselves truly and see our body through God’s eyes so we can walk in godly confidence.
Remember, You Are A Spirit First.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:6
Body positivity for Christian women starts with this truth: You are not your body. The truth of who you are is in your spirit. God gave you this body so you can interact with the world using your five senses. But the true you and your real value are in your spirit. How you show up in the world and express the fruits of the spirit is all that matters. You can learn more in my previous post.
✨ Tip: Start your day by declaring Psalm 139:14 out loud. Speak life over your body.
Reject the Lies of This World with the Truth of Scripture.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” – Romans 12:2
The world often tells us we need to be thinner, taller, lighter, or curvier to be “beautiful.” Every where we turn there is an image of “the perfect woman.” And we are reminded that we are not enough. But we can renew our minds with God’s truth. Beauty isn’t what we see outside. It’s not the straight nose or the blonde hair and blue eyes. Beauty comes from within — This is a spiritual truth.
✨ Tip: Unfollow accounts that trigger insecurity. Follow people who reflect God’s truth about beauty and worth.
Modesty is Empowerment, Not Shame.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment… rather, it should be that of your inner self…” – 1 Peter 3:3-4
Many people have missed the point of this scripture. Peter wasn’t saying cover up, he was actually saying don’t show off. Modesty isn’t about hiding your body — it’s about allowing your inner beauty shine. It’s about allowing people to see the beauty of your spirit; your kindness, your patience, and your love for mankind all without being distracted by a glam beat, blinged out jewelry and a tight fit. Choose to present yourself with dignity and to reflect the inner beauty God is developing in you.
Care for Your Body.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
Loving your body means caring for it – That is fueling it with the nutrient rich meals and snacks, resting it when it is tired; and not abusing it with overwork or negative self-talk. Even wearing clothes and shoes that fit your body is a form a self-care. Going to the doctors on a regular basis for check-ups is a form of self care and paying attention to your mental health is also a form of self-care. Exercise, nourish and, pamper your body — it is the only one you will have for the entirety of your life.
Surround Yourself with Life-Giving Encouragement.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Community matters. Having friends, mentors, or even online spaces that speak truth over you is so important. Talk about your struggles, pray together, share resources, and build each other up.
✨ You are not alone in this journey.
💬 Final Thoughts: You Are Enough. Because He Says So.
You are already loved.
You already bear the image of God.
Let’s stop shrinking to fit into what the world says we should be — and start rising into who God has already declared we are.
